How to get to Cannaregio from Venice airport

Marco Polo airport is the gateway to Venice, just a few kilometres from the city. If you stay in Cannaregio, in the quiet Madonna dell'Orto area where Cà Letizia is, you have several ways to arrive — from the cheapest to the most comfortable. Here's how to choose, with approximate times and practical tips.

🚤 By Alilaguna water bus (best value on the water)

The Alilaguna is the scheduled water bus connecting the airport to the city across the lagoon. From Marco Polo, the Blue Line reaches Fondamente Nove, the closest landing to Cannaregio: from there you're a few minutes' walk from our area, or one vaporetto stop from the Orto landing.

It's the best value if you travel light and aren't in a hurry. The trip from the airport takes roughly 45–60 minutes, depending on stops.

🛥️ By water taxi (fastest and most comfortable)

The water taxi takes you from the airport to the canal closest to the apartment, with your luggage and no changes. It's the quickest and most enjoyable option — a small touch of luxury on arrival in the lagoon — at a higher cost than the water bus. You're at your destination in about 30 minutes. Great if you're a group or a family (the cost is shared) or arriving with a lot of luggage.

🚌 By bus to Piazzale Roma (the cheapest)

The ATVO (express) and ACTV line 5 buses connect the airport to Piazzale Roma in about 20–25 minutes. Piazzale Roma is where the mainland meets Venice: from here you continue by vaporetto along the Grand Canal or towards Cannaregio, or on foot (about 20–25 minutes to our area). It's the most economical choice, ideal if you want to save and don't mind one change.

🚆 Arriving by train? Santa Lucia station

If you reach Venice by train, you'll arrive at Venezia Santa Lucia station, right at the start of Cannaregio. From there Cà Letizia is a short walk (about 15–20 minutes along Strada Nuova) or a few vaporetto stops away. It's perhaps the easiest way of all to reach our neighbourhood.

In short: which to choose

• Want to save and travel light: Alilaguna (on the water) or bus + vaporetto.
• Want comfort and speed: water taxi, door to door.
• Travelling as a family or group: the water taxi becomes good value (shared cost).
• Arriving by train: Santa Lucia is right there — the simplest option.
