Murano, Burano and Torcello in one day

The three most beautiful islands of the lagoon — Murano, Burano and Torcello — can comfortably be visited in a single day. And from Cannaregio you start with an advantage: the Orto stop and Fondamente Nove, a few minutes from Cà Letizia, are the natural gateway to the northern lagoon.

⛴️ How to get there from Fondamente Nove

The ACTV vaporetti for the islands depart from Fondamente Nove. For Burano and Torcello the main line is number 12; Murano is just a few minutes away and served by several lines. Our tip is to get a timed ACTV ticket (24 or 48 hours): with the islands to cover, it's always worth it compared with single tickets.

🗓️ The recommended order

To make the most of the day, start early and follow this route:

• Murano (first stop) — the island of blown glass. Visit a furnace, the Glass Museum and stroll along its canals, a Venice in miniature.
• Burano (second stop) — the famous colourful houses and the tradition of lace-making. It's the most photogenic island of the lagoon: perfect for lunch and an unhurried walk.
• Torcello (third stop) — a few minutes by vaporetto from Burano, silent and ancient. This is where the original Venice was born: don't miss the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta with its Byzantine mosaics.

💡 Practical tips

• Start early in the morning: you avoid the crowds in Burano and have time for all three.
• Check the vaporetto timetables on the app or at the stops: between Burano and Torcello departures are less frequent.
• Bring water and comfortable shoes: there's plenty of walking.
• If you're short on time, focus on Murano + Burano; Torcello is the cherry on top for lovers of quiet and history.
